Black gram (chana)

Ingredients

2 cups black gram soaked overnight or at least 4-5 hours
2 chopped green chillies
2 tblspn chopped cilantro
1 chopped tomato
1 tblspn grated ginger
1 tblspn grated dry coconut
1 tspn cumin seeds
1/2 tspn asafoedita
2 tspn dry coriander seeds powder
1 tspn salt and 1/2 tspn turmeric
1/2 tspn redchilly powder
1 glass water
2 tblspn oil
lemon juice and cilantro to garnish

Instructions

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and asafoedita
As it crackles add black gram, salt and turmeric
Add in green chillies, cilantro and grated ginger
Stir fry for 2 mins then add the coriander powder,redchilly and grated dry coconut
Now saute for a min. then add the tomatoes
Add 1 glass water and pressure cook it
On high flame take 1 whistle and then on low flame take 4 whistles more
Or you can cook in a heavy base pan just add more water n keep checking at intervals.
Garnish and serve with hot Pooris.
